Can’t Afford to Move?
Posted September 15th, 2008 by SheilaI love to sell houses to happy buyers, but I understand there are alot of unhappy sellers in the Tampa Bay real estate market. If you feel a little stuck in your existing home, an alternative you can consider is renovating. Besides the obvious benefits of renovating, you will be able to stay in the same tax bracket and add value to your home. If you have wanted a new kitchen ever since you moved in three years ago, now might be a good time to think about actually doing it. Lower interest rates will help also. You should talk to a few lenders to get a feel for what type of loan you can take. If you borrow against your home, your interest rates are tax deductible. Your choices in financing the renovations are refinancing your existing mortgage and taking out a larger mortgage, get a home equity loan if you have value in your home or you could take out a home improvement loan. Whatever route you take to finance the renovations, stay away from putting it on your credit card. The rates are high and can’t deduct the interest payments.
